I smell a smell
that I've never smelled
my lips are turning into caramel
uncross my eyes
give me a pill
a violent urge to
regurgitate the rainbow
ooohh, my little unpruned shrub
you push in every direction
reaching for touch
ooohhh, they'll never wash your feet
with their sweet secretions
to claim your heart
you can't cover it up
you are decaying girl
and it's contagious
ooohh, my little unpruned shrub
you push in every direction
reaching for touch
ooohhh, the lacerations are so deep
you are decaying girl
and it's contagious
In the alley, behind my house
on a street so seafoam green
he follows the red carpet
to an oasis full of virgins
sleep in the road
long thin necks and curves so round
but he won't touch them
they are his slaves
I hear your man
He ain't comin' home
So you're packin' up your bags, girl
and your cryin' him a river
and when your river runs dry
when your river runs dry
then we'll have a good time
i'm gonna keep my lips
sealed on up
like a love letter
until you get better
then we're gonna have a real cool time.
Closing in on me
from corners that I can't see
like daggers in the rock and a
stream like a tongue
deeper in the pit
looking at a blood-soaked spit
where was I to run?
Closing in on me
and watching my lips speak
to the devil in the spider's web
where it feeds on my wall
deeper in the pit
looking at a blood-soaked spit
where was I to run?
about
"Hard Company started when I moved to Montreal and realized how popular electronic music was; I grew up in a scene surrounded by rock bands, but here in Montreal everyone seemed to be using laptops and samplers in live performances. I thought it would be a good way to branch out musically and luckily so did Guzz. I borrowed my friend's Dr Groove drum machine and quickly recorded a pile of beats, picked my favorite ones, then recorded bass lines over them. When Guzz came to Montreal to find somewhere to live, I passed him these rhythm tracks. He took them back to St. John's and by the time he came back to Montreal three months later, a lot of the groundwork was laid and we just started decorating everything, trying to make sense of this new form we both knew nothing about." - Alexander
