The first song to reach completion out of the whole batch and certainly the most ambitious, each of Guzzwell's and Bridger's contributions is a mystery to the other. Like many of the songs, Bridger relies on visceral instinct to shape the chord structure, unaware of where the song exists. With the aid of Guzzwell's melodic sensibility, shards of broken glass floating in black sludge becomes a tortured, vulnerable and surprisingly human finale to the EP.
lyrics
Closing in on me
from corners that I can't see
like daggers in the rock and a
stream like a tongue
deeper in the pit
looking at a blood-soaked spit
where was I to run?
Closing in on me
and watching my lips speak
to the devil in the spider's web
where it feeds on my wall
deeper in the pit
looking at a blood-soaked spit
where was I to run?
